4. Common troubleshooting

  • Question: what does S/L/E mean?
    • Answer: it means System/Library/Extensions, that is the directory where there are all the Kernel extensions
  • Problem: the sleep (stop, or standby) does not work/stops immediately
    • Solution: install the DSDT with Sleep Fix
  • Problem: the wireless card is not recognized as'AirPort'
  • Problem: at boot OS X stops for 30/40 seconds on Waiting for DSMOS...
    • Solution: add this string in org.chameleon.Boot.plist
    • <key>SystemId</key>
    • Now, replace the two asterisks with the code that you can find here
  • Problem: the video card, when OS X boots at 64 bit, doesn't have the hardware acceleration
    • Solution: unfortunately, the Kexts for thr GMA X3100 work only at 32 bit
  • Problem: when I connect the VGA with an external monitor and i change the disposition on 'Mirror' i see only stripes on the displays (Notebook and external)
    • Solution: unfortunately, the Kexts for thr GMA X3100 produce this effect. You can anyway restore the monitor disposition of the display by deleting the key <key>DisplaySets</key> (and the annex content) until </array> from /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist
